Injuries, Diseases and Conditions Treated with Physical Therapy

Some of the most frequent conditions treated by FizioLogix Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy (PT) is a branch of rehabilitative healthcare where trained and licensed physical therapists with a doctorate degree use physical movements and exercise regimens (active PT), hands on techniques (passive PT) or specialized physical therapy equipment to treat physical functions that are no longer within a “normal range” to help you heal faster, keep active, mobile, free from pain killers, injections or surgery, and ultimately stay out of the doctor’s office. We’re here to help you move well so you can live well.

Did you know that physical therapy isn’t just for post-surgical rehabilitation, or to improve sports performance? There are over 100 conditions that physical therapy treats with great success. Below is a list of the most common injuries, diseases and conditions that we treat at FizioLogix PT, this list is not complete. Contact us directly for more info.

In pain? We are accepting new patients. There’s no wait list. Be seen by Dr. Greg Spooner, DPT within 48 hours!

Why Work With A Physical Therapist

Physical Therapists are highly trained, licensed medical professionals with clinical doctorate degrees (DPT) who test for and evaluate a wide range of conditions, injuries, autoimmune driven diseases, and acquired or congenital disabilities - all of which can get in the way of your day-to-day and recreational activities. DPTs will work pre-operatively to recommend and provide appropriate physical therapy treatments to help restore, maximize and maintain physical function and mobility after your surgery.

Frequently you’ll find Physical Therapists working in conjunction with other medical teams in rehab centers, hospitals, sports and fitness centers, schools, offices, sports teams, or like us have their own mobile and telehealth clinic to provide the most flexibility and customization of treatments at a location that’s most convenient for you, to keep you focused on healing.

Our private clinic is located on Bainbridge Island, WA allowing us full access to any equipment and space necessary in order to get you better, faster. All of this without increasing chances of post-surgical infection, complications, extra downtime and additional costs.

Dr. Greg is definitely the best! I reached out in search of more information for help with a long term shoulder pain injury, that I never properly took care of. The injury started affecting other areas, mainly tension headaches.

Dr. Greg gave me a handful of tools and information that beyond helped my road to healing and recovery in a natural and super informative way too. Going into just the second week of therapy with his services I had already noticed a huge difference.

Tension headaches have reduced immensely and my shoulder injury has also gotten much better. He has set me up with a lifetime of tools and information to continue my road to recovery and permanent healing.

Thank you for all you do Dr. Greg! You are a blessing to all.

If you are a rower or paddler, I cannot recommend Dr. Spooner enough! I’ve been training to row the Seventy48 and had been pulling some serious meters when my hands decided they wanted to stay oar-shaped forever. It was uncomfortable to make a fist and my fingers would lock up and snap back open (trigger fingers). It got so bad I started to worry that I would not be able to hold a paddle (after the Seventy48 I’ll be training to paddle the Gorge Downwind Champs in my surfski) or even play ukulele.

In addition to all his PT work, Dr. Spooner rowed across the Atlantic and was in the winning boat for the 2019 Seventy48, so he seemed like the most logical choice to help. So I was thrilled to find out that he does tele-health appointments and could work with me even though I’m in Washington and he’s in San Diego.

He gave me an excellent home-treatment plan AND helped find the likely source of my hand woes. A while back I thought I was breaking my wrists too much so I swapped out my oar handles for smaller grips. Turns out I over-corrected and was taxing the tendons too much. Oooops.

Also, rowing for over 6 hours with wide hips using a seat designed for a man, can get... uncomfortable and I’m planning on rowing anywhere from 13 to 16 hours on race day depending on conditions. Dr. Spooner has helped me research a solution to this as well and found a U.S. distributor for a particular seat pad made in Copenhagen.

Next time a sports related issue pops up (and it will knowing me), Dr. Spooner will be the first person I call.

Concierge Service at its finest! A year ago my shoulder got messed up in a biking ordeal. It wasn’t my dominant arm so, I ignored it for months. Finally had it rebuilt in Sept ‘20. Going to a crowded facility for PT during a pandemic was nixed. (I’m 68)

When I found Dr. Greg Spooner at Fiziologix I won the lottery. On every level: Knowledge, Experience, Service, Custom-tailored approach after three months of Physical Therapy with him I am 100% glad I booked him.

He’s articulate, kind, listens well and understands. Greg has that rare skill of meeting you where you are in recovery with getting you on the road to fully returned to health. Together we alleviated pain, regained range of motion, strength, flexibility and the confidence to return to doing the activities I enjoy.

He has used state of the art app tailored to my progress, supplied equipment or texted me links to get products he knows to be good value and reliable. He’s observed the very highest universal precautions with consistent safety procedures. We seamlessly transitioned to HIPPA compliant tele-health when the Covid-19 virus became prevalent. He’s navigated insurance and Medicare hoops for my case.

Initially, I thought, “How can I complain about a bum shoulder to a guy that has rowed across the North Atlantic and is in the Guinness Book of World Records?!” Let me assure you, I am not an elite athlete, but he certainly is. And yet, he has related to me as if I were. A hell of a nice guy. Inspiring. Always believing I could get to the next level and patient with me until I believed it, too.

Greg is an excellent physical therapist with a wide range of knowledge, great communication skills and has used an analytical approach to help me with a spinal nerve compression that began about 6 months ago. I worked with a therapist 8 years ago when my achilles tendon was repaired and there is no comparison in the amount of attention and degree of hands-on healing that he employs.

Tip For Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Pain & How To Self-Mobilize It To Reduce Pain.

Thanks to Greg I’m still rowing! Taking a shot at trials this year (2020) and unfortunately I developed some lower back pain and achilles tendinitis that stopped me from training. A few months past and I couldn’t shake the injuries, so I reached out to Greg for help. He evaluated my problems and gave me a variety of exercises to work on, which I did religiously every day. Shortly after, the injuries resolved and I was back to training as I was prior to the injuries. I continue to do the exercises he gave me and have stayed injury free. I really appreciate all of his help and I highly recommend going to him for your injuries!

I highly recommend Dr. Greg Spooner as he has helped me beyond my expectations in the recovery from a multiple fracture of my right knee patella in 2021, in preparation for hip replacement surgery which occurred three weeks ago and, currently, in recovery from that surgery. He is a pleasure to work with and has allowed me to develop an optimistic outlook on my full recovery. Greg has also selected a wonderful personal trainer who has and will begin again shortly to integrate his recommendations into my personal training plan. He, simply stated, is the BEST!

I was fairly desperate for help with what “fortunately” turned out to be an IT band tendon problem with my left hip, instead of a far more worse hip implant issue. Time was of the essence and my primary care doctor recommended Fiziologix because Dr. Spooner had treated him, and my doc was effusive in his praise and the results he got from Dr. Spooner’s care. I immediately contacted Fixiologix and Dr. Spooner not only returned my call, but was able to schedule an initial session that SAME day, coming to my house at 5PM! He patiently listened to my very complicated medical history, performed a diagnostic exam, then designed an initial exercise therapy program. With his high level of attention to detail and stellar professionalism, and clear, easy-going way of communicating, I made a great deal of progress after only 3 days on his program, and I was quickly back to “normal” without having to use walking aids. On the 2nd session I asked Dr. Spooner to design a more extensive preventative exercise program after he discovered restrictive issues with my neck and back. He did so, and I am greatly appreciative...Thanks a million, Dr. Spooner...now I can feel comfortable on my upcoming trips!

So grateful I was able to contact Dr Greg Spooner for my knee injury. He was patient, listened to all of my concerns and sent my Physical Therapy plan right away so that I could get started ASAP. My knee felt better the very next day so I could go back to work and within a week was almost back to normal. 100% recommended.

[McKenzie Method] Standing Knee Extension with Overpressure.

Greg Spooner is a fantastic healer and trainer. In a single session, he took me from barely able to row to ready for heavy weightlifting. In another, he provided on-call video chat and follow-up email advice for a pulled calf muscle – teaching me stretches that addressed the injury and accelerated the healing. (He was more responsive and more effective than my health care provider, too.) The stretches and exercises he taught me have been very helpful, not only to heal quickly, but also to avoid repeat injuries.

Big Toe Exercises - Cueing the Big Toe for Whole-foot Contact.

Worked with Greg on a long time problematic ankle issue. After an educational 1 hour session I went for a 14 mile pain-free run. I hadn’t run that far without ankle/knee pain in years. Greg’s extensive real life experience in endurance sports shows in his work. Highly recommended!

Dr. Greg is an island gem. He’s got a wonderful personality alongside being full of wisdom and skill about how the body heals. We are so lucky to have him nearby. He’s also located in the Elevate gym and so the equipment and space you have to do therapy session is top notch. My only reluctance in writing this review is that it may be harder to get an appointment with him as more islanders discover his practice!

Dr. Greg is the BEST of the best. He uses a holistic approach to really solve the problem. I first started seeing Dr, Greg back in 2018 for a back issue. He was meticulous in his care for me and was able to discover tiny small movements I was doing while running that were causing pain for me in totally unrelated areas. Due to his hard work and attention to detail, I was able to go on and complete my first Ironman PAIN FREE!

In June 2019 I was in a serious cycling accident. We’re talking multiple broken bones, days in the hospital, etc. My insurance at the time sent me to another PT. I would at best get 5 minutes with the actual therapist and everything I was told was just “in general” advice. Not only was I not recovering, but I was developing new knee pain and all other kinds of issues!

As soon as I could I switched back to Dr. Greg. It’s been the best decision I have ever made. He has worked so hard on my case. He didn’t just fix one issue, rather he continues to evaluate where I am at and what really needs attention. This has helped me not only recover, but start to thrive again in my training! He cares about you as a person, your goals, your future races, even your cats!

For me personally, it’s especially important that Dr. Spooner is also an athlete. He understands not only the physical challenges that come with injures, but the mental ones. He’s helped me think about my training differently, how I schedule my workouts and how to take things one step at a time.

If you are looking for a Physical Therapist that cares about you, that is committed to your recovery and that will continue to research and learn about your specific issue - then look no further! Dr. Greg is the best of the best!

My son was seen by PT Greg for a sports injury and I was immediately impressed by the rapport, attention to detail and diagnosis my son received. He spent a few weeks with Greg doing all the required work and in short order my son’s pain was gone and he was back full speed in both soccer and cycling. Thanks Greg!
